Bless Them?

God_bus_0206
I read this article today and took some time to reflect on how we, as followers of Christ, could handle moments such as these. Each time I thought about what could be done, I found myself battling the words of others.

For example, statements like…

"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to
do nothing."

But then I thought about what Jesus said in Matthew 5:44.

"
But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you."

Rather than fight campaign with campaign, dollar for dollar, I wonder what overwhelming love could look like interjected into this story? For those making the decisions in London, this may be the most loving thing they can do.  I am not there, in their shoes, so I will not judge them. If it is, I applaud them wholeheartedly. The essence of my thoughts are not to criticize them, but to say how could Lifecentre handle such a moment?

Here is what I think.

Don't play the ad game, just keep going about your business changing the lives of people. Invest the same dollars you would on the bus ad into the lives of everyday people who need a hand up in this tough season. Or…just imagine what $50,000 dollars, invested properly into the lives of amazing leaders, with clear plans to change a community, could look like over the next few years? I can guarantee you it would bear more fruit than a 2 week bus ad.

After all, the Holy Spirit is pretty great at getting the word out about Jesus.

Just my thoughts…

Great thoughts, jason. This campaign is now in Toronto and from what I’ve heard, will be in Ottawa before the end of the summer.
Personally, I think it gives us a great opportunity. Imagine the discussions that will happen as people wrestle with the idea of God’s existence?
    I can’t wait!

It makes me sad though.I wonder if God cries over these things.

Yes, great thoughts indeed Pastor Jason. Overwhelming love can do amazing, amazing things. It can be miraculous, radical and life-changing to those who are open to receive it. And for the follower of Christ extending overwhelming love, we remain others-focused and Christ-like without falling into places of bitterness, anger,
    resentment etc.
If we ask ourselves “What would Christ do?” The answer might be “Father forgive them for they do not know what they are doing.”
    that’s love…overwhelming love.

I would like to know why a comment I made earlier has not been posted on this website? Is it because I am in support of the atheist bus campaign?
