If you follow me here you will know that Lori and I moved a few weeks ago. We love our new home & have nothing to complain about…that is with our house.
But…we miss our neighbours.
We miss community.
- I miss being there for Brigitte and Irie, especially on those snowy day.
- I miss having our door bell ring after school & Nicholas asking if he can play with the boys.
- I miss my banter with Philippe and Mathieu in the morning as they played on the snow hills.
- I miss chatting with Juri or Mark as they tromp out in the blistering cold.
- I miss the bus stop morning routine.
- I miss seeing Alan & Sarah walking with either Elijah or Caleb.
- I miss waving to Shelley as she was running for the bus stop in the morning.
It’s easy to move houses, but not easy to move from community.
If you don’t know your neighbours, your missing out on getting to know some really great people.
(PS. Sorry if I misspelt any of your names)

The boys and I miss you too, and not just for the snowblower…
I miss the security of knowing you and Lori are there and that I can count on you for anything. And your smile in the morning as we head off to work.
And it’s just winter. Summer will be a lot harder!
But I’m happy for you that you got a bigger house and making a new home. That’s exciting.
I appreciate your perspective on this – by the way, the bDay party looks so fun. I LOVE to see Granparents just hanging on the couch, a ‘luxury’ for us, and inspiring to see. Brings comfort on so many levels to our little ones.
– ANYWAY, just writing about community. It’s the hardest part of moving. We make a point of lovin’ on our neighbours wherever we live, and that’s been our hardest adjustment, too. Took Mac over a year to ‘release’ her previous home…and the reality of everyone else moving away from previous ‘hood helped, too.
I know you will develop amazing community in your new home, too. Bless you, today, Pastor! Nic Huggins
