Our Ally

After all that Ally has been through with her concussion and laceration, it looks like she caught a strange virus that gives you sores in your mouth. A couple of our friends both adults and kids have had it and it's very painful. You cannot eat because it hurts too much. Have you seen this weird thing going around?

Ally has been having a really hard time eating because her mouth is so sore. She has some huge sores in there and she just wouldn't eat anything up until yesterday. She discovered that yogurt didn't hurt the sores too much. She ate 4 yogurts in one sitting.

Today she was even better. She ate more yogurt and 3 pieces of bread. After she asked for more bread at dinner time we were so encouraged. She was so excited to be eating again. We were bathing the kids upstairs and somehow Emma banged her forehead directly on the bump at the back of Ally's head. The laceration broke open and it was bleeding. They were both screaming. Emma because she made Ally's Bo bo bleed and Ally because he Bo Bo was hurting again.

I try not to over react when the kids are sick or struggling but the longer they are sick or struggling the harder it becomes to deal with. I feel the stress of it all over my body. Then tonight to see her bump it again was just overwhelming. It's so important for the healing process of a concussion that the child doesn't bump their head again.

I am not so much worried about her long term, I trust that God is with her and protecting her. It's just hard to see her have this little set back. I just want to take the Bo Bo away.

Imagine how God feels when we are struggling…

Thanks again for your prayers.

    Good morning Lori,
It’s sounds like Ally might have “hand, foot and mouth disease”. When I was providing child care one of the children had it. It is spread from one person to another quite easily. Bland foods are much easier to eat than anything strong or with a lot of acid. Yes you are so right…God is with her and protecting Ally always. It’s so difficult to see our children unwell in any way. My prayers are with your entire family for this season to pass quickly and for God to surround you with peace and comfort you while He’s carrying you through this season. Bless you Lori.
    love and blessings,
    Shelley

Oh.. I know what you are going through. If it is Hand, Foot, Mouth disease… BOTH of my kids had it this summer… along with their entire VBS class. My 2 1/2 year old daughter had it the worst and refused to eat for days.. and the sores looked so painful. It is terrible to have them sick or hurt… especially when there isn’t a lot you can do for them. It is heart breaking. You have my prayers through this time.
    In Christ’s Love,
    Jennifer

Oh Ally girl and especially momma…Big Big Big E Hug…you are not alone…Jesus is right with you and I ask Him to comfort and heal Ally expediently and bring a “Peace that passes all understanding” to momma’s heart and mind. This too shall pass even when it is the “tougher stuff.”
I know what you mean Lori, when you just want to take it away and make it all better…you are not alone…and I often am astonished at all God endures and His depth of Love for us…if I feel this way for my family and others going through trials imagine how God feels…I guess that just reinforces the fact that He is God and I am only human.
    See ya.

  4. Oh you poor dears! My son Jonah had the whole sores in his mouth thing too..several months back and I thought it was hand, foot, mouth, but it turned out that it was just a non-permanant viral form of herpes. They actually have anti-viral medication..which is rather new to help treat the symptoms..and fight the virus. Can’t remember the name of it. Anyway, it’s really not terribly contagious, and although it’s really painful (not being able to eat and all) there is no permanent damage and the virus strain does not linger in their bodies like other forms of herpes. THANK GOD! Jonah’s gums were also really red, swollen, and it made his teeth look like they were smaller..wierdest thing ever. It took him about four or five days to want to eat again and three or four more for his gums to heal completely.
Hope Ally’s heals quickly! Wow..mom’s go through a lot sometimes.
