The Blogging Church

My husband received a book from a fellow blogger whom he has never met called The Blogging Church by Brian Bailey. The idea is that he reads the book and sends it to another blogger, well he gave it to me, upon recommendation of the author who wanted a women’s perspective on the book.

I started reading it last night and so far, so good. I am riveted by all the questions. I just love questions. I love asking people questions and I love answering questions. I will answer any question and because of that I am not afraid to ask someone ANY question. Sometimes others don’t feel as excited by my questions, I forget that not everyone wants to be provoked to answer the WHY questions of their own actions, thoughts, feelings and decisions.

However, obviously Brian Bailey loves questions to. Some of the questions I have loved are… What did you think of when you first heard the word Blog? Is your blog a tool or a toy? Is it something you want to play with more than you want to use? And what problems are you trying to solve with your blog?

In Chapter 5 the opening line is "It’s all about Others." This resonates with me because I believe that life is all about others.  Some of the main points in this chapter highlighted what Blogging has the potential to do. First of all it starts a conversation, reaches out to others, develops relationships and builds community. I have seen all these things happen through my 6-month blogging journey.

I love blogging. It has become a part of my life but I dream of so much more for my blog. I am looking forward to the chapter on How to Build a Better Blog. I know I have a lot to learn and a lot of room for growth.

The first time I heard Blog was a book called God Blogs during an Encounter weekend at TLC the Lori said the word blog to me and I had to ask my husband what it meant. I definately am using my blog as a tool for Christ and His purposes. I try to encorperate toyness when I am teaching my 5 year old to blog for Christ so that he stays interested and sometimes I play on my blog so I am not too serious. And the biggest problem I have with blogging is fitting it in. The ideas come to me with great clarity but at times when I cannot be on the computer because I am working with our children homeschooling and like many of you have family life to balance. So I am praying on it.
Lori the book sounds great. I am looking forward to hearing more about it and learning lots so I can work for Him more effectively.

    Lori,
I love that my blog can be anything I want it to be on any given day. I really am wanting to give some structure to it though. Different themes, some fun, some more serious, but it is something I am thinking about. I would be interested in the book as well. Look forward to hearing more about it at bloggers night.
