Do I Stay or Should I Go?

Yesterday Lori & I went to this game with Jason & Rhonda. Another friend, Claude, gave us four amazing tickets, which was such a blessing. While we were on our way, we had an interesting topic of conversation. Out of that conversation, I have a question for you today…

"When you attend events, where there is sure to be loads of traffic after it concludes, do you stay till the end or do you leave early to avoid the impending traffic?"

I for one have the insane pleasure of knowing that I have beat the traffic home – so, I leave early. Honestly, there is nothing that trumps the glee of knowing that I don’t have to sit in traffic twice for the same event (once on the way there, once on the way back).

What about you? Do you stay or do you go?

PS. Sorry about the blurry pic, still sorting the camera phone :-(

I’m a person that feels like I should stay to the very end – but we were also at last night’s game and I was ready to leave after the second period!! For those who care about hockey, the game ended in a 6-0 win for the Sens and yes, we stayed until the very end :)
PS – We were sitting less than 10 rows behind the scary glass breaking incident right at the beginning.

    Ranelle;
Did you know that we were sitting only a few rows behind you last night? We were in section 104, right where the glass shattered as well. Scary for those two kids eh? I am sad that we didn’t “see” each other…and we left early :-)

Unless it is a close game, I am out of there. Nothing like sailing out of Scotia Bank Place with a wide open road. Plus getting out early might allow for a quick stop at Starbucks!

As the old saying goes, “it ain’t over till it’s over!” I definitely stay to the end, whether it’s bitter or not. Have a great weekend.

I definitely stay until the very end too. I wouldn’t be able to drive out knowing that i could’ve missed a goal or a good fight… I usually skip the traffic going to the game by going really early and eating at the arena, that way i can fellowship with whoever i go with too… and have some Tim Hortons!! ;)

Turns out the majority of you stay until the end eh? I guess we won’t be driving together :-)

    Dearest Pastor Jason:
Uh…When does the bus leave? :-)
Peace and blessings I pray to you and yours in Jesus’ mighty name:

Jay, I like to skip traffic as well. I learned very young to park BACKED in right by the exit. When you do it that way, you can stay if you don’t want to miss any moment OR you can leave early, either way you get into the flow faster!

You have to stay! My sister went to a game last year where we were loosing by 2 goals in the last minute and the game ended in a tie! And eventually went to a shootout. Alfi scored with 2 seconds to go. My sister said that the bank was half empty because everyone assumed they were going to lose. And all those people missed it.
Although I do see where you are coming from with the traffic… I take the bus for that very reason, that way I just sit there chatting with my friends and the bus gets to pass all you guys by driving in the bus lanes!

Wow – from your perspective it is overwhelming that “I Should Stay”…but the reality is that I will still beat the traffic and “Go”. One time Lori and I left before an overtime period started :-)
By the waym, this passion isn’t just with hockey games, I do it at concerts & events too. I leave before the last encore etc…heck, I even like to leave hotel rooms before the alloted check-out time.
Thanks for all your suggestions, who knows, miracles may happen, but if you are at a game or concert with me, and there are a few minutes left, don’t be surprised when I reach for my keys and head for the door :-)
Final words. When it comes to the Sens, I don’t miss those final moments. Two words: SportsCentre or Team 1200.

    Jay,
Oh my…..you always have to stay. Staying for the reason of “it’s not over till it’s over”, Staying for supporting our team even when they are sucking really large rotten eggs, and staying for the atmosphere of being in that traffic jam with all the people that you just shared a really neat (or painful depending on the outcome) experience at the good old hockey game.
When I go to a concert I am always freaked out when people leave before the encore. Why? I am all for hanging out in the parking lot on the hood of my car to see how others enjoyed the show, sometimes it’s as good a show as the concert! (I really do that)
Stuart on the other hand would be all for beating the traffic most times. We live so close to the bank though that we get my parents to drop us off and pick us up because Stuart will not pay for parking ever, and at the end of the game 99% of attendees are going east. The five people going back to Stittsville breeze west with no problems:) Good Questions!
    Sarah
